Akhilesh talks tough on law and order
UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav on Friday made it amply clear that there was no question of any compromise on the development and law and order front.
He has given 15 days’ time to the police officers to control the crime situation in their respective districts.
“The development of the state is directly related to the sound law and order situation and the government will not compromise on it and officers who fail to deliver will be taken to task. Law and order and development of the state remains on top of my government’s agenda,” the chief minister said in his first interaction with senior civil and police officials of the state.
Mr Akhilesh Yadav asked officers not to succumb to political pressures and to perform fairly and fearlessly. He further warned that those found working under pressure of any kind would face action.
He invited their suggestions for improving the administration and speeding up development.
He said he would review the implementation of his directives after a fortnight and those who found wanting would be subjected to punishment.
Charting out the priorities of his government, Mr Yadav said that the people of the state had given him a historic opportunity and he would fulfil their aspirations by putting the state on the track of development.
He further underlined the need for increasing the resources in the state by curbing wasteful expenditure and corruption.
He asked officers to make the administration free of corruption and responsive to the common man’s needs.
He asked officers to remain in their officers and listen to the grievances of the people on a regular basis. Complaints in this regard would be taken seriously, he warned.
