AKAL TAKHT AWARDS BADAL FAQUAR-E-QUAM
If not Nobel Peace Prize as suggested by one of his Cabinet colleagues recently Punjab chief minister on Monday got “Faquar-e-Quam” (Jewel of the religion) award. The highest Sikh temporal body Sri Akal Takht Sahib on Monday presented the award to the chief minister at Amritsar.
In a religious ceremony, Sri Akal Takht Jathedar Gaini Gurbachan Singh presented the award to Mr Badal in the Golden Temple complex in the presence of chiefs of all the takhats. Bhog ceremony of Sri Guru Granth Sahib was performed before presenting the award. Presenting the award Akal Takht jathedar said this award is being presented to Parkash Singh Badal for his services to the state especially to the sikhs. He had announced this award at Sri Anand Pur Sahib, the day on which Virasat-e-Khalsa complex was dedicated to mankind. Akal Takhat chief said that Punjab CM has rendered a great service to the Sikhs by setting up memorials.
