AICC rejig likely after Dec. 20?
The much delayed Congress organisational reshuffle is expected to take place after December 20, according to well-placed sources.
They said some developments are on the cards.
The Congress high command has been delaying to undertake this exercise on different pretexts.
While the appointment of PCC chiefs in Bihar, Punjab, Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Jammu and Kashmir and Mumbari Regional Congress has been pending for long after the defeats in the state Assembly and the BMC polls, some changes in the AICC is expected, they said.
In Gujarat, a blame game has begun even before the state Assembly results, with the Congress leaders accusing PCC president Arjun Modhwadia, CLP leader Shaktisinh Gohil and campaign committee chief Shankersinh Vaghela of misleading the high command.
“Shankersinh Vaghela can return to his parent party, the BJP, if Narendra Modi becomes the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate,” a Congress loyalist predicted.
The party is weak organisationally in major states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Punjab and Orissa.
Its frontal organisational organisations are not aggressive in the Opposed-ruled states.
Meanwhile, AICC member Kavita Rehman has been appointed the new Mahila Congress chief of West Bengal.
“Congress president Sonia Gandhi has approved the proposal for appointing Kavita Rehman as president of the West Bengal Mahila Pradesh Congress Committee with immediate effect,” a release issued by AICC general secretary Janardan Dwivedi said on Tuesday.
Ms Rehman, who succeeds Ms Maitri Saha, was nominated as AICC member from the state last year. In March last year, she was made a member of a core committee to look after the party’s strategy during the Assembly elections.
