Advani was reluctant on deal with JMM
Sources said most of the BJP central leadership, including Mr Advani, had been reluctant when the issue of striking a deal with the JMM was raised. Mr Advani, sources said, was of the view that the party had faced enough embarrassment because of the JMM and, therefore, it would be unwise to join hands with them again.
When asked whether the BJP-led government in the state will complete its full term and has the support of all senior leaders, senior party leader Shahnawaz Hussain said, “Though there was President’s Rule in the state, a government had to be formed and that is why at the opportune time we decided to stake claim to form a stable government.” He claimed the entire central leadership, including Mr Advani, had given their “blessings” to the BJP-led government in the state. He denied reports that Mr Yashwant Sinha was unhappy about the developments in Jharkhand.
The BJP had to withdraw support from the JMM-led government in May this year after JMM chief Shibu Soren voted against the BJP’s cut motion in Parliament.
Later, President’s Rule was imposed in the state.
