Accused advocate's condition stable
The condition of Rajappa, the advocate who stabbed his female colleague to death at the High Court premises and later attempted to commit suicide, was "stable", hospital officials said here on Friday.
Rajappa, who was rushed to Mallya hospital after he stabbed himself, was operated upon Thursday.
"He is quite stable and we will be observing him for 48 hours," hospital officials said.
Rajappa had sent shockwaves across the legal fraternity when he stabbed to death 25-year-old lawyer J.S. Naveena in the High Court premises on Thursday for spurning his marriage proposal.
After the incident, Rajappa locked himself in a toilet and slit his throat after consuming poison.
Lawyers and litigants then broke open the toilet door, pulled out Rajappa and handed him over to police, who rushed him to the hospital.
According to police, the accused and the victim were colleagues and worked under a senior Mangalore-based advocate.
