9-year-old raped, killed in Bhopal
A 9-year old minor girl was raped and murdered in the Malharganj police station area of Indore on Monday night. The police nabbed the culprit on a tip off on Tuesday night and recovered the slain girl’s body from the spot identified by him.
On interrogation, it has been found that the boy arrested for raping the minor girl is a habitual offender. He confessed the crime and told the police that he had also raped another girl in his neighbourhood — a 3-year old infant — on July 8 this year.

Kerala: Man chops off wife’s hand
Kollam (Kerala) : A man chopped off his wife’s left palm and flung it into the neighbour’s compound during a quarrel between them at a remote village in the district on Tuesday night.
The shocked villagers searched and collected the severed palm and rushed the victim to the taluk hospital at Punalur town for grafting it to the woman’s arm, police said.
According to villagers at Edamon, about 40 km from here, it was a quarrel between Hashim (44) and his wife Nasia (31) that took a gory turn and the man had been absconding after the incident.

Jails to jam cellphones in Punjab

Electronic systems to jam mobile telephone signals and biometric visitor management systems are to be installed in Punjab’s jails to prevent incarcerated criminals from employing the premises to run crime and terror networks.
Chief minister Parkash Singh Badal has approved the first mobile jamming system to be fitted out at the Nabha Central Jail at a cost of `1.61 crores, an official news release stated on Wednesday. Approval was also granted for a brand new biometric visitor management system, designed and installed by Delhi’s National Informatics Center for the Ludhiana Central Jail.
