8-year-old girl raped, murdered in Orissa

A youth on Tuesday allegedly raped an eight-year-old girl and later strangled her to death at a city slum here. According to the relatives of the victim, the youth came to the Saliasahi slum in the morning and asked the girl to help him identify a particular person’s house in the locality.

Without suspecting the motive of the accused, the girl led to the house of the person the youth was looking for. As soon as they reached the place, the youth dragged the girl into the house, shut it from inside and raped her.
Fearing that the girl might disclose the matter to her parents, the youth killed her by throttling her neck. When the girl did not return home till the afternoon, her parents searched for her in the colony. In the evening, they found the body of the girl lying in the house.
The incident led to high tension in the area.
