8 more pilots under scanner
A day after arresting two pilots — Amit Mundra and Anuj Kumar — who were sacked earlier by low-cost carrier SpiceJet for allegedly misrepresenting their number of flying hours and using that to fraudulently obtain a pilot’s licence, the Rajasthan poli-ce’s anti-corruption bureau has reportedly put eight more pilots under the scanner for the same offence. Top officials of the Direct-orate-General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in New Delhi met representatives of 40 flying schools across India on Tuesday and warned them of strict action if they failed to maintain proper log books. The DGCA has identified five pilots for allegedly obtaining licences by submitting fake marksheets. The complaint regarding the fifth pilot has been forwarded to the Delhi police but the identity is being kept secret for fear that he or she may abscond. n More: Page 8
