75 more news tv channels coming soon

Elections are good news for broadcasting. With Lok Sabha polls looming, around 75 news channels await clearance from the information and broadcasting ministry. India has about 430 news channels, one of the largest number anywhere in the world.

Sources said around 150 television channels are awaiting clearance, half of which are in news and current affairs.
They have sought permission to broadcast in English, Hindi and several regional languages.
