4 rebel TDP MLAs submit resignations
Four rebel Telugu Desam MLAs submitted their resignations on Sunday for a separate Telangana state.
Former minister, Nagam Janardhan Reddy (Nagarkurnool), former deputy Speaker, Koppula Hariswara Reddy (Parigi), former Union minister of state, S. Venugopalachary (Mudhole), and Jogi Ramanna (Adilabad) signed their resignation letters prepared under Rule 186 of Assembly Rules and Procedure in front of party leaders and the public at Deekshi Sivir at Indira Park and sent them through a messenger to the Speaker’s office.
These are the first batch of resignations and more will follow on Monday. On Sunday, Mr Janardhan Reddy also started his two-day fast under the banner ‘Telangana Aikyata Deeksha’ demanding that a separate Telangana state be immediately carved out.
The fast was inaugurated by the Telangana protagonist, Mr Konda Laxman Bapuji, and leaders from various parties visited the camp and extended their support to Mr Janardhan Reddy.
Criticising the TD chief, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu, Mr Janardhan Reddy said that Mr Naidu’s two-path theory on Telangana could not be sustained as there would be resentment within the party. He said that a separate state alone would be a fitting tribute to the students who had sacrificed their lives for the sake of Telangana.
