4 killed in freak mishap in Aligarh

Four persons were killed and at least seven others injured on Sunday after a brake lever snapped from a freight train at Aligarh junction and the wheel ploughed into passengers waiting at the platform, police sources said here.
The incident occurred on Sunday evening when brake wheel of a passing goods train snapped from one of the wagons and hit the passengers waiting at platform number 2 of the railway station, they said.
While two persons were killed on the spot, two others died at the hospital, sources said. The injured were admitted to different hospital where condition of three was stated to be critical, they said.

Medical test paper leaked in C’garh

June 19: Authorities concerned here cancelled the Pre-Medical Test (PMT) in Chhattisgarh scheduled to be held on Sunday due to leakage of question papers.
This was the second time in the last one month that the PMT has been cancelled for the same reason.
The leakage came to light on Saturday night, when the police raided a rest house at Takhatpur in neighbouring Bilashpur district and arrested 12 people, including the alleged kingpin, in this connection. The arrested people included two miscreants from Bihar and Jharkhand who were allegedly selling the question papers to aspirants for `4 lakhs. The CPEB initially scotched the reports of leakage.

Pak troops breach truce along LoC

June 20: Running contrary to the efforts to bring a thaw in bilateral ties through foreign secretary level talks, Pakistan troops on Sunday morning breached the truce along the line of control (LoC) by resorting to unprovoked heavy firing on three forward Indian posts in Poonch district.
Official sources stated that three Indian forward posts, viz., Maria, Tara and Bandi, in Nakarkote sector of border district were targeted by the Pakistani troops from their forward post Jameel along the line of control using small arms and RPG.
The firing from across the border started at around 1 am and continued till 1.40 am.

Lightning kills 6 kids in Bihar
Purnia, June 19: Six children were killed and two others sustained burn injuries after a lightning struck a field where they were working at Bairiya in Bihar’s Purnia district on Sunday, official sources said.
The lightning struck when the children were collecting fodder from a field. While three died on the spot, as many succumbed to burn injuries in hospital.
Two other children were undergoing treatment, the sources said.
Chief minister Nitish Kumar expressed grief and announced a compensation of `1.50 lakhs to the families of the six children.
