4 arrested for raping housewife
A young housewife who had come to visit her husband, lodged at Howrah Jail in connection with a dacoity case, was allegedly gangraped by four youth on August 13 night.
The 22-year-old mother of two had gone to visit her husband but could not meet him as she did not have the identity documents. She stays at a platform at the Howrah station. Soon, the four youth took her behind the prison assuring her that they would arrange for her to talk to her husband through a window. When she was about to leave the spot, the four overpowered her and raped her, preliminary investigations revealed. Early on Wednesday, the locals found her lying unconscious behind the jail and informed the police. She was taken to Howrah General Hospital where she underwent a medical test. Bablu Das, 19, Raju Murmu, 18, Raju Das, 19, and a minor were arrested and are in two weeks’ police custody. Meanwhile, an air passenger was arrested for allegedly molesting his fellow passenger,
a Japanese
national, mid-air.
The accused Narayan Singh,60, is from Haryana.The victim first reported the incident to the crew aboard the Kolkata-bound Thai Airways flight from Bangkok. Singh was handed over to the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International airport police station following her complaint after the flight landed at the Kolkata airport at around 12.55 am on Friday.
