`37 lakh seized in Tamil Nadu

I-T officials on Sunday seized `37 lakh unaccounted cash allegedly kept for distribution to voters in various parts of Tamil Nadu.
A sum of `16.65 lakh that was kept in 105 plastic bags was seized from the residence of Vettavalam Town Panchayat Chairman in Tiruvannamalai, the department said in a statement.

Noting the Chairman belongs to DMK, it said empty acquittance slips, indicating persons to whom money has to be distributed, was also seized.
In Dharmapuri, `11 lakh was seized at Mathikonpalayam from an AIADMK worker Madhayan, the release said adding that Rs 8 lakh was seized at A.Kolahalli from a DMK man Devaraj.
A sum of `1.9 lakh was also impounded in Dharmapuri from another person believed to be of DMK, it said.
In Tirunelveli district, `46,500 was seized from a AIADMK Town Panchayat Secretary in Pathamalai, located in Ambasamudram constituency. — PTI
