36-year-old changes sex for marriage

Nobody could fathom the distance a lover is prepared to go to woo his fiancée. Well beyond parental disapproval and societal dictate, as romantic story tellers often describe — it ends up in the dark ditch of death, at times.
In such a romantic story book plot, a 36-year-old woman lawyer of Orissa high court, who is in love with a girl, has changed her sex organ as she feared her fiancée, also a girl, would one-day marry a boy and part with her.
Six months ago, advocate Lipi (named changed on request) approached Dr Akshaya Kumar Rout, a cosmetic surgeon in Vivekandna Hospital in the city and wished to undergo a sex-change operation.
She revealed before the doctor that she had been behaving as a boy since her early teenage and took tobacco like boy and drank occasionally.
Dr Rout, assuming that the woman needed a care of psychiatrist, advised her to meet one. But to his bewilderment, the woman returned yet headstrong after medication for 15 days under a psychiatrist without any development and persisted to have her sex changed or commit suicide.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
