‘2nd wife’ wants to meet Jagathy
Kochi: Veteran actor Jagathy Sreekumar’s second wife and their daughter on Friday moved the Kerala high court, seeking police protection for them to visit the comedian who has been hospitalised following a car accident.
Seventeen-year-old Sreelakshmi, Jagathy’s daughter, and her mother O. Sasikala filed the petition alleging that Parvathy Shone and Raj Kumar – daughter and son of Jagathy – were not allowing them to visit Jagathy.
A division bench consisting of Justice K.M. Joseph and Justice K. Harilal issued notices to the police, Parvathy and Raj Kumar while considering the petition. During the course of the argument, the bench raised suspicion over the jurisdiction of the court, as the hospital was in Tamil Nadu. It however issued notices and adjourned the hearing.
Jagathy is currently undergoing treatment at the medical college hospital in Vellore. The mother and daughter argued that when Jagathy was hospitalised at the MIMS in Kozhikode, they were given the permission to visit Jagathy. However, recently, Parvathy Shone and Raj Kumar, and their associates, were not permitting them to visit Jagathy.
After they were denied permission, both Sreelakshmi and Sasikala sought the assistance of the police, but in vain, they said. The Thiruvananthapuram, the city police commissioner refused to accept the application from the mother and daughter, and failed to give them any police protection, the court was told.
Jagathy met with the road accident on March 10 last year in Kozhikode.
