2G cash went to DMK TV
Chennai, Feb. 4: The AIADMK-led Opposition has now got a new missile in its arsenal to target the DMK and the first family on the 2G scam as reports emerged about the Enforcement Directorate probing the money trail to Kalaignar TV. The agencies are examining whether the transaction of `214 crore, transferred by the subsidiary of DB Group into the accounts of the TV channel owned by the family of the CM, Mr M. Karunanidhi, has any links to the spectrum allocation.
Although it has come to light that the money was repaid by the channel with interest as the deal did not fructify due to some differences over valuation of the 30 per cent stake that the Mumbai-based DB had intended to pick up from the channel, the Opposition is bound to take this new ‘skeleton-out-of-the-cupboard’ before the public.
