In 28 days, Akhilesh makes 1,424 transfers
The Akhilesh Yadav government, on Friday, transferred 70 IAS officers and 69 PCS officers and created a record of sorts when it comes to transferring officials.
In his 28 days in office, the chief minister has transferred 1,424 officials including those from the IAS, IPS, PCS and PPS cadres which means he has incurred a expenditure of about `6 crores since the government pays an estimated sum of `50,000 to every officer for an inter-district transfers.
Out of the 1,424 officials transferred in the past 28 days, 1,263 are inter-district.
The mass transfers, meanwhile, has thrown the entire bureaucracy in a state of turmoil. “The bureaucracy has been completely politicised and corrupted by the previous regime and we are trying to break the nexus that had developed in the Mayawati regime by transferring officials. We want a complete overhaul and once this is done, there will be no more reshuffles,” said a senior SP minister. A senior bureaucrat, on the other hand, said that transfers were being cancelled within hours because of the multiple power centers in the Akhilesh government.
