28 AK-47s seized in Assam
Haflong (Assam), July 10: A large cache of arms and ammunition, including 28 AK-47 rifles belonging to separatist outfit Dima Halam Daogah’s Jewel Gorolsa faction (DHD-J), has been recovered by security personnel in southern Assam, police officials said here on Saturday.
According to the official, the recovery of 48 weapons was made possible following interrogation of arrested DHD-J chief Niranjan Hojai, who was arrested from India-Nepal border by the NIA officials last week.
The weapons, which were buried in the jungle, included 28 AK-47 assault rifles, eight SLRs, five M-16 rifles, two M-21 rifles, three pistols, one locally improvised rifle and a grenade launcher.
