23 cong, 1 TDP, 1 praja rajyam MLAs resign
Twenty-three Congress, two Telugu Desam and one Praja Rajyam MLAs swearing allegiance to the Kadapa MP and YSR Congress chief, Mr Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, submitted their resignations on Monday to the legislature secretary, Mr Raja Sadaram. The Congress MLAs resigned from the party too.
The MLAs were protesting the mention of YSR as a criminal conspirator by the CBI in the Jagan illegal assets case.
Though 29 MLAs were supposed to resign, three Congress MLAs, Ms Jayasudha, Ms Konda Surekha and Ms Kunja Satyanavathi, did not submit theirs because they said that they had already submitted their resignations last month along with other Telangana MLAs. Their resignations, however, had been rejected along with the other 98 by Assembly Speaker, Mr Nadendla Manohar.
The three MLAs, however, said that they had received no communications that their resignations had been rejected.
