2,000 doctors on strike in Jharkhand
Medical services were hit in Jharkhand on Wednesday as more than 2,000 government doctors went on strike demanding raising the retirement age from 60 to 62 and more promotion avenues.
The doctors kept away from outpatient departments but did not cripple the emergency services, the Jharkhand Health State Services Association said here.
The Jharkhand unit of the Indian Medical Association is supporting the strike. “We have been placing our demands before the government for long. It has turned a deaf ear, forcing us to go on strike,” a doctor said.
