2 kids to be handed over to orphanage
Failing to trace their parents, authorities here have decided to hand over, for now, two girls who were rescued from debris of the unauthorised building that collapsed in Shil Phata area here to an orphanage.
One of the girls is an 8-month-old baby while the other is six years old and her name is Sandhya.
Their families could not be traced. At present, women police constables are looking after them, and it was decided to hand over them to Maa Niketan orphanage here for now, officials said.
Meanwhile, bodies of 11 labourers hailing from Malda in West Bengal, who were among the 74 persons killed in Thursday’s crash, were flown back to their home state on Saturday night.

9 victims yet to be identified
Thane, April 7: Nine bodies, recovered from the debris of the unauthorised building in Shil Phata area in the district, which crashed on Thursday killing 74 people, are yet to be identified. Officials said, four bodies were at the Civil Hospital here, while five were at CSM Civic Hospital, Kalwa. All other bodies have been identified.
Many of the victims were construction workers from Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal. The seven-storey unauthorised building had come down crashing in a heap on Thursday evening, in the worst tragedy of its kind in Maharashtra. — PTI
