174 colleges to participate in F1 race car design event

At least 174 engineering colleges from across the country are going to participate in “Virtual SUPRA SAEINDIA 2013”, an event which displays the conceptual and design skills to develop a Formula One model, at KIIT University here.
The two-day event will be inaugurated on Friday.
“This is first of its kind organised in the eastern part of India. Experts in the areas of mechanical and automobile engineering from leading automobiles houses, including Maruti Suzuki India, TRAKTION, Defiance Technologies, JK Tyre & Industries, TVS Motors would be judges of the programme,” KIIT officials announced here on Wednesday.
Student teams will present their projects and explain the technical clarity and project plans before the experts.
On the second day, the final result will be declared, where first three best Formula One Model designers will be awarded, the official added.
More than one thousand mechanical and automobile engineering students will be participating in the event.
The Formula One Models of selected teams will take part in Chennai Race Tract on June 2014. R. Dayal, executive officer, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd, will grace the occasion as chief guest, the KIIT University official announced.
