14 killed, 23 injured as bus rams into truck in UP

Basti (UP): Fourteen people were killed and 23 others injured when a bus dashed into a stationary truck on Lucknow-Basti road in the wee hours of Saturday, police said.
The mishap took place around 3 am when when the overloaded bus hit the truck after one of its tyres got burst and the driver lost control over the vehicle, they said. Those killed in the mishap have been identified as Farooq, Hukumdar, Mahboob Ali, Jai Narain, Safiq (all from Sidddhartnagar), Surendra Kumar Yadav, Raj Narain Pandey, Ram Mani Pandey (all from Basti), Jitendra, Afsar Ahmed, Shahid, Taresh Kumar Yadav, Iklaq (all from Sant Kabirnagar) and an unidentified person, police said.
Among the injured admitted to hospital, some are stated to be critical, they added.
