13-year-old drowns in pool in JNU
A 13-year-old girl died after drowning in swimming pool in the old JNU campus. The deceased, Amrita Singh, a resident of Vasant Kunj, was learning swimming for the past three months at the sport complex.
So far, the police officers have said the deceased’s body has been sent for post-mortem and several people at the sports complex have been questioned. The incident happened around 9 pm on Tuesday.
“There is a possibility that the girl had drowned due to negligence of the sports complex staff,” said the investigating officers. The police added that some authorities have been questioned on why there was not any life guard present at the spot while Amrita was swimming in the deep portion of the pool.
Investigating officers added, “Since Amrita had been learning swimming for the past three months, it states that there is a possibility that she was not perfect to swim in the deep portion without a presence of a life guard.”
