The initiative, which was announced through a press note in media, social networking sites and twitter got massive response as more than 10,000 people came spontaneously to join the candle march.
The slogan shouting college students and youth expressed their deep anguish over the corruption and asked the government to honour the sentiment of the civil society rallying behind Mr Anna Hazare.
The gathering, which kept swelling, stopped vehicular movement on the road.
