102 days to wed this year
If you are planning to get married this year, there are 102 opportunities for you to do so.
The year 2011, according to pandits, has 102 muhurats for Hindu weddings with the maximum of 18 in June alone.
According to Pandit Umesh Misra of Dharam Sanskar Jyotish Kendra, a study of the Mahavir Panchang and the Vishwa Panchang (a calendar of sorts) shows that there are 102 auspicious occasions for weddings to be solemnised.
“
In the first half of the year, there are 76 muhurats for weddings, and in the second half of the year the number of muhurats is 26,” he informs. According to the pandit, the first auspicious wedding date this year is on January 15, a day after the Makar Sankranti festival. There are 11 auspicious dates in January and 17 dates in February.
In March, there are only six dates available for weddings while April has only two dates to offer. July has only seven auspicious dates.
There are no dates available for marriages in August, September and October but November has 11 dates and December has eight dates for marriages.
“This is a rare year when there are so many dates available for marriages. Normally, we have 50 to 60 days in a year when marriages can be solemnised, but this year is obviously different,” said astrologer Pandit Vipin Pandey.
