‘Vindicated’ BJP may not use verdict as Bihar plank
The BJP is feeling “vindicated” after the Ayodhya title suit verdict. Sources said the BJP core group, which met after the verdict was announced, was of the opinion that the situation ended honourably for it and the “mere fact that mainstream India accepted the verdict in such a matured manner was proof of the BJP’s vindication.” Most of the senior party leaders on Friday were looking relaxed.
Though no leader made any further statement on the issue, claiming they have not read the judgment thoroughly.
Senior party leader L.K. Advani, after the party’s core group meeting, had said the verdict was a “significant step” towards the construction of a grand temple at the birthplace of Lord Ram.
Mr Advani summoned the BJP top brass at his residence soon after the verdict was pronounced.
It was Mr Advani who had asked party leaders not to make any statement on the issue until the verdict was delivered.
The party, which had used the issue for political gains, had reacted to the verdict by saying that it had opened a new chapter for national integration and a new era of inter community relations.
However, a senior party functionary disclosed that it was decided during the BJP core group meeting that the issue would not be used as a political plank during the coming Bihar Assembly polls.
Sources disclosed the verdict had uplifted BJP morale of the BJP and other Sangh Parivar members, with all of them elated at the prospect of constructing the Ram Mandir at the disputed spot.
