‘Telangana meet when all will talk’
Refusing to give a time frame to resolve the Telangana issue, home minister P. Chidambaram on Tuesday made it clear that he would convene a meeting of parties from Andhra Pradesh on the Telangana issue only when all of them are “ready” to give their views.
“It is only when all parties are ready to come and give their views then I can call a meeting,” Mr Chidambaram said when asked when he would convene a proposed meeting on the issue since there were protests in the state. “I can’t give a date,” he shot back when asked if he can set a date for the meeting.
The home minister said the government is considering the recommendations of the Srikrishna Committee.
“If we invite all the eight parties to the meeting, It is my hope that they will come and meet,” he said. Mr Chidambaram also made an appeal to the people of Andhra Pradesh to maintain law and order and allow all the political parties to take a view.
“These are difficult and delicate issues and need to be handled sensitively,” he said.
