‘Let me smoke pot’, man asks Raman
Chhattisgarh chief minister Raman Singh’s grievance cell is currently flooded with bizarre demands from a section of people, ranging from seeking sanction to drink liquor and smoke marijuana to finding a bride.
“I am addicted to drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana. Whenever I am under the influence of liquor, I develop an urge to dance. Kindly allow me to drink, dance and smoke,” Murali Dhar Diwakar, a resident of Sanguda village in Chhattisgarh’s Bilashpur district, pleaded in his letter to the chief minister’s grievance cell.
He even tried to preach the chief minister the virtue of being drunk.
“One never knows whether he is in heaven or hell when drunk. He becomes immune to all pains and agonies of life. Just one puff of ganja smoke makes one feel relaxed,” the letter said.
The chief minister has currently launched the fortnight-long gram suraj abhiyan (campaign for good governance of villages), under which Mr Singh is making extensive tour of rural areas to reddress the grievances of local people.
Besides, senior state government officers have also been sent to remote areas to receive grievances from the local populace. The campaign is scheduled to end on April 29.
