‘Govt will fall even if Yeddy stays’

Yeddyurappa continues or not. “It is a shame that despite such torrents of allegations against him, Mr Yeddyurappa is talking and behaving as if nothing has happened. If one tells him that he is corrupt to the core, he would say he was working hard, day and night, for the welfare of the poor. Such an attitude of going off at a tangent will not work for long. People, the court and the enquiring agencies are demanding a straight answer,” he said.
He said that Mr Yeddyurappa confessing to his misdeeds would not be sufficient. According to the Indian Penal Code, he can be punished, the Congress leader said, adding that the volume of charges is so huge that only a CBI inquiry would do justice.
“People in power do make mistakes. But saying that he has not erred because the earlier chief ministers did the same when they were in office, is no alibi,” he said. Mr Yeddyurappa has distributed saris to poor, that too when the elections are around the corner. “To Mr Yeddyurappa, people do not look like citizens but only as votes. But people may at last see through his game plan,” he said.
