‘China, Pak beat India in cyber security’
Indian is lagging behind its traditional adversaries China and Pakistan as far as cyber security is concerned, opined renowned cyber security expert Ankit Fadia.
“Pakistani cyber criminals are able to deface 50 to 60 Indian websites a day, but in retaliation only 10 to 15 Pakistani websites are defaced. This has been going on since
2001. No doubt, India is IT capital of the world, but as far as security is concerned, India is far lagging behind,”the “ethical hacker” said while addressing students of a local engineering college here on Friday evening.
“Pakistan and China have built up their cyber security expertise, which could potentially be used against India,” he cautioned.
He said India today faced a greater threat in cyber war than military adventures by its adversaries.
The 24-year-old computer security and digital intelligence consultant said terrorists were using most advanced technology for communication such as Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) chats, hiding messages inside photographs, draft emails, encrypted pen drive to communicate with each other.
Mr Fadia, who has authored 14 internationally best-sellers on cyber security, was of the view that the next big security threat could be from social networking. “There seems to be a craze in the world to be on social networking bandwagon. The latest viruses spread through social networking websites like Orkut and Facebook,” Mr Fadia said.
