Yerrannaidu’s death: SHRC probes medical negligence
Reacting to a petition filed by a human rights activist who alleged that the death of senior Telugu Desam leader K. Yerrannaidu on Friday was due to the unequipped ambulance that reached the accident spot and dismal medical care provided at the hospital, the State Human Rights Commission has asked the director of NHAI and the district medical health officer of Srikakulam to submit a report by December 12.
The petition filed by advocate Dharan Gopal mentioned that the National Highway Authority ambulance that rushed Yerrannaidu to KIMS, Srikakulam, did not have necessary first-aid medicines and an oxygen kit.
Even the hospital rendered poor services leading to the death of the TD leader, the petition said.
Had there been a proper first-aid kit and oxygen in the ambulance and had proper medical care been provided in the hospital, Yerrannaidu could have been saved, it said.
Responding to the petition, SHRC have directed NHAI director and Srika-kulam DMHO to submit a report by December 12.
