Woman SI held for accepting Rs 15,000 bribe
Anti-Corruption Bureau sleuths on Tuesday arrested a woman sub-inspector while she was accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000 to implement a court order and release an accused in a dowry case on bail after taking sureties. The arrested was identified as P. Lalitha, 54, working in the Central Crime Station Women Police station. She was caught in her office at 11.17 am on Tuesday.
The ACB officials said Lalita demanded the bribe to implement the additional metropolitan sessions judge court order in a case of Dowry Prohibition Act and 498 A case. ACB sleuths recovered the tainted amount from the office room. It was kept in the locker of an iron safe of Lalita at her instance. A chemical test done by the ACB officials found that both fingers of the accused officer had come into contact with the iron safe and it yielded a positive result. She will be produced before the ACB special court.
