Woman held for killing daughters
A mother, who in a fit of rage, allegedly strangled her two daughters aged four and two, tried to pass off the heinous act as a case of robbery and murder by an intruder. The police solved the case in less than 48 hours.
According to North Zone DCP Ch. Srikanth, the accused Samreena, 19, wife of Yakub Pasha and mother of Samreen, 4, and Mahek, 2, angered by her children making a fuss, throttled them on Tuesday at their house in Addagutta, ‘B’ Section.
When the children’s grandmother enquired about them, Samreena told her that they were asleep and continued with her work. When the children did not ‘wake up’ for a long time, the grandmother insisted that Samreena wake them up. Fearing that she could be caught, Samreena made the room look as though it had been ransacked and tied a dupatta around the children’s necks.
To make it appear that a robber had made off with all her jewellery, she packed all her ornaments in her bag and was planning to flee, but the police foiled her plans.
On Friday, inspector B. Sudershan Reddy and his team arrested Samreena, and based on her confession, the suitcase containing valuables worth Rs6.5 lakh was recovered from her room.
