Woman borrows Rs 3 crore, flees

A 41-year-old woman named Dhana Lakshmi has allegedly cheated 25 people of Rs 3 crore. Her modus operandi was to borrow money promising to repay it later with interest. The woman who had started an interior designing company and was running it, promised people that she would repay their loans with interest. The Banjara Hills police registered a case against her after some of her creditors filed complaints.

According to the cops, around 25 people turned up at the police station and registered a complaint against Dhana Lakshmi. Most of the complainants were women They were promised their money with interest. She told her creditors that she needed the money to build up her business. The victims fell for this and gave her the money.

Lakshmi claimed to have an interior designing firm and offered discounts. However, after borrowing the money she kept delaying payments and since Sunday she has been absconding. Realising that Dhana Lakshmi was missing the victims turned to the cops for help. The police has registered a case and is investigating.
