Former PCC president D. Srinivas on Tuesday questioned Telangana Rashtra Samiti president K. Chandrasekhar Rao for his false propaganda in bypoll campaign on formation of Telangana state.

Ridiculing Mr Rao's argument, Mr Srinivas said "You (TRS) won 12 seats in Telangana. What happened to the Telangana state that you have promised to people? Even assuming that you win all the six seats in going for bypolls in the region, where is the guarantee that you will bring Telangana state."

The Congress MLC stated that the Telangana cause is not a patented right of the TRS, and formation of the state is not possible without the support of the Congress both in the state and the Centre. He added that it was Mr Rao who did not agree for constitution of the Second SRC in 2004. “Had he agreed for it then, it (statehood) would have been possible now. I advice him to be reasonable on certain issues without raking up people’s sentiment in the name of resignations and bypolls,” Mr Srinivas said. Replying to a question, he said that the Congress will win a majority of the seats going in the bypolls.
