Vijayamma cries for new probe into copter crash
YSR Congress honorary president Y.S. Vijayalakshmi fired a fresh salvo at the Congress on Saturday by demanding a fresh and transparent probe into the events that led to her husband Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy’s death in a helicopter crash.
With tears coursing down her cheeks, she asked the huge gathering at Church Centre here for justice for her family and said she wondered why Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy did not board the helicopter on that fateful day in spite of the programme being planned much in advance. While campaigning for the local YSR Congress candidate Balineni Srinivas Reddy, a teary-eyed Ms Vijayalakshmi said that she had come to the public’s court seeking justice for the conspiracies as well as harassment of the Congress against her family.
YSR died in plot: Vijayalakshmi
With regard to her husband YSR’s death in a helicopter crash, YSR Congress honorary president Y.S. Vijayalakshmi said that while black boxes in aircraft are supposed to record all conversations, there was no evidence found and added that though a helicopter can hover in the air in emergency situations for two hours, no such manoeuvres were done.
Ms Vijayalakshmi said that the fact that chief security officer A.S.C. Wesley’s gun did not have any bullets itself suggested that the helicopter crash might actually be the result of a murder plot and demanded a fresh probe into the incident by the state and Centre. With a voice choked with emotion, Ms Vijayalakshmi recollected that YSR did not have any time for his family in 30 years of his political career because he gave all his attention to public service and thus the Congress had offered him the CM’s post twice.
Accusing the CBI of taking orders from the Union government and harassing her family, especially her son, Kadapa MP Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, Ms Vijayalakshmi said that there had been no enquiries into Rajiv Gandhi’s family in the Bofors case or arrests in the probes against TD chief N. Chandrababu Naidu, PCC chief Botsa Satyanarayana, TN governor K. Rosaiah and others. She reminded the public that her son had supported the choice of Mr Rosaiah as CM despite having the support of 150 MLAs.
Ms Vijayalakshmi also revealed that M.V. Mysoora Reddy had told her that it was Mr Naidu who had pressurised him to write the book Raja of Corruption about YSR allegedly siphoning off `1 lakh-crore to defame the late CM. She also took potshots at Mr Chiranjeevi and Mr Satyanarayana and accused them of spreading canards about her family and asked the electorate to erase the “murky” Congress and Telugu Desam with their vote power.
