Varsities to jack up UG fees by 50%
Private degree colleges affiliated to Osmania University have decided to increase the fees by 30 per cent to 50 per cent this year, citing “increased operational costs”. Despite the mushrooming of professional colleges in the city, undergraduate courses offered by degree colleges such as B.Com (Computers), B.Com (General), B.Com (Hons), B.Sc (Biotechnology), B.Sc (Maths, Electronics, Computers), B.Sc (Maths, Statistics, Computers) and B.Com (computer applications) attract a large number of students.
Since the government doesn’t regulate the fee structure of private colleges, managements are free to fix their own fees, which can go up to Rs 50,000 a year.
