Thieves steal 1-kg gold ornaments and Rs 20 lakh
In a major burglary thieves stole one kg of gold ornaments and cash of Rs 20 lakh from a house in Bowenpally, police said. The burglars got into the house located near Tadbund Hanuman Temple by breaking the front door lock while the family was away. Bowenpally inspector K. Srinivas said house owner Mahesh Gupta and his family were in New Delhi when the incident occurred.
“Mahesh Gupta, who is a businessman, and his family had left for New Delhi on September 20. They returned home on Monday at 11 am, and found the front door lock broken. They also found that the locker kept inside the bedroom was also broken," Srinivas said. In the complaint lodged at the Bowenpally police station, Mr Gupta claimed that he had lost one kg gold and Rs 20 lakh in cash. However, the police is yet to confirm the loss. "We are still verifying the claims,” Srinivas said. Cops suspect that the thieves had broken open the door and the locker using iron rods. Police said that it was a major burglary in the city in recent times. House owner Mahesh Gupta, 55, runs a shop named Ruchika Electricals at Mahankali.
