Tension over damaged idol at SR nagar
Tension gripped Vikaspuri Colony in Sajeevareddy Nagar on Saturday morning when members of two communities had a verbal duel after the idol of a deity was found burnt.
The argument started when members of one community decided to build a firm structure to prevent such incidents in future.
Meanwhile, members of another community as well as the welfare society opposed the move saying that followers of all religions stayed in the colony, and hence constructing a temple will trigger similar demands from other groups too.
SR Nagar Inspector S. Prabhakar said, “There was heated arguments for sometime but the crowd did not resort to any kind of violence and dispersed after we intervened.”
BJP workers supported the move to construct a firm structure. MIM workers reached the spot and arguments started, Prabhakar said.
As soon as we came to know about the disturbance, we reached the spot and the crowd disperse, Mr Prabhakar said.
