Techie held for stealing code

The CID cyber crime police arrested Vivek Gharad, a civil engineer from Mumbai on charges of stealing and tampering with the source code and software of a reputed IT company in the city. The case was booked on March 15 under IT Act and theft. According to Cyber Crime additional SP U. Ram Mohan, the accused Vivek stole valuable intellectual property while undergoing training in the firm. “He also posted video clippings of the proprietary software on YouTube. Cyber crime sleuths seized a laptop that had the stolen source code and DVDs put for sale from him. He was sent to judicial custody.
