Techie held for fake visa consultancy
The East Zone Team of the Commissioner’s Task Force and Abids police raided a fake visa consultancy named M.M.R. World Travels located on Chirag Ali Lane, Abids, and arrested the man who ran it. Police said the accused Mohammed Muhamed Raza, 31, a computer hardware and network engineer left his job and set up an air ticketing travels agency named ‘M.M.R. World Travels’ in Chirag Ali Lane, Abids, in 2008 and hatched a plan to make easy money.
Raza collected original passports and other information from customers by promising them business visas. Later he prepared fake income-tax returns and business experience certificates of various companies by mentioning his office phone number, instead of the original company contact number.
He also prepared I-T returns and bank statements of nationalised banks at his office with his computer using various softwares. Raza used to do this for people who were trying to acquire business and temporary residence permits in Europe, Canada and the US. He used to hand over the documents to known customers after collecting huge amounts from them. After collecting the fake documents, the clients would submit them at consulate offices for obtaining visas. The consulate staff used to call the phone number mentioned in the business experience certificate. Raza used to answer the phone claiming that he was director and say that the concerned person who had applied for visa is working in the company.
