Techie had ingested unidentified liquid
The mystery over the death of Infosys employee Neelima, who was found in a pool of blood on the ground floor of the multi-level car park in the company’s city campus, deepened on Thursday, after autopsy found an unidentified liquid in her stomach. This raised suspicion she had either consumed or was force-fed intoxicants before death.
Sources in Gandhi Hospital mortuary said multiple external and internal injuries were also found on her body, indicating she was attacked before she died. Sources said samples of the liquid collected from Neelima’s stomach have been sent to the AP Forensic Science Laboratory for examination. “The reports will come in a few days and only then can we confirm what she had consumed before she died,” an officer said.
Meanwhile, Neelima’s family maintained that she was murdered. Neelima’s mother Y. Rani said she was attacked that night. “She had no reason to commit suicide,” Ms Rani said. Inspector A. Bala Koti of Raiduragam police said, “We are yet to receive the post-mortem report and cannot say anything now. A case has been registered under CrPc Section 174 for suspicious death. The case would be changed to murder if it is confirmed during the course of investigation that she was killed.” The corpse is kept in the mortuary, since some relatives from abroad are yet to come here.
