Techie accuses Guntur SP of links with wife
Guntur SP (urban) S. Shyam Sundar was accused by a suspect in a dowry harassment case of having developed ‘a relationship’ with his wife. Software engineer Kotha Karthik, 29, of Gachibowli filed a petition in the AP High Court alleging that his wife K. Gopi Priya, 27, and the SP made several phone calls to each other and they were talking at odd hours from 1 am to 10 am. Sundar and Gopi Priya refuted the allegations.
In the petition, Karthik alleged that he filed a divorce petition in Hyderabad in 2010. After receiving the notice, his wife Gopi Priya filed an application for restitution of conjugal rights in Guntur, where they were married. He says his wife later filed a private complaint against him and his family alleging harassment, threatening, attempt to murder and outraging the modesty of a woman. “Shyam Sundar along with the Arundalpet inspector tried to fix us in criminal case,” Mr Karthik alleges.
SP Mr Shyam Sundar said, “My senior officers told me to monitor the case personally. One of the accused is an income-tax commissioner. We have conducted the probe in a fair manner and filed a chargesheet on March 15. The calls were made to my official mobile and landline. In fact the woman and her family came to me and thanked us. I get calls at odd hours as I am a cop.”
