TD dharna to take on Botsa on home turf
Stating that he was not scared of rowdies, Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday said that he would take on PCC president Botsa Satyanarayana in his hometown by staging a dharna against the liquor syndicates on April 23. Mr Naidu declared that his party would go ahead with the protest despite the refusal of permission by the police for the dharna.
“We have a spineless SP. The Collector too has refused permission. We will go ahead with the dharna. The liquor syndicate is ruling the roost in Vizianagaram,” he said. Earlier, a TD delegation, led by senior party leader Gali Muddukrishnama Naidu, met DGP V. Dinesh Reddy and sought permission to stage the dharna. The TD chief also alleged, “Lands of poor farmers have been forcibly taken over for allotment of SEZ. Most of the SEZs have become real estate business. Farmers should get the market price for their lands.” Demanding a CBI probe into the Kakinada SEZ, he said that the YSR regime had flouted all rules in allotting SEZs. Welcoming the arrest of Bhanu, main accused in the murder of Maddela-cheruvu Suri, the TD chief said that the police should not become complacent but instead continue its probe into the murder, including the role of the home minister’s son.
