Tanker services doubled in city
The Water Board delivered as many as 5,307 water tankers on Monday, double the number that is normally deployed. Water Board officials stated that the board could deliver 5,307 tankers on Monday, and that average paid tankers delivered per day were 2,500, while the number of free tankers delivered were 500. Out of the total tankers, 4,563 were payment trips, and the remaining 744 were free trips delivered to various slums, religious organisations and unserved areas. The total quantity of water supplied was 27,550 million liters (6.058 MG), the officials said.
Water Board managing director Adhar Sinha instructed the officials during the Prajavani programme to check areas where the shortage of water was critical and keep in touch with local corporators, MLAs and MPs in order to resolve water supply and sewer problems. Mr Sinha instructed the officials to arrange and distribute chlorine tablets in pollution-prone areas as a precautionary measure to protect customers against the outbreak of any epidemic diseases.
