T-protests likely to hit top events
Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy’s attempts to showcase AP are likely to hit T-blocks.
Mr Reddy has rolled out series of conferences and festivals in Hyderabad, Tirupati and other parts of the state in next 4 months, in a bid to attract investors, encourage tourism and retain Hyderabad on the international map.
However, the TRS and the TJAC have called for a series of agitation programmes from this month-end, putting a big question mark on the fate of international meets and also tourism festivals.
The TRS has set August 20 deadline to UPA government to decide on the issue or face agitation.
Since there was no response from Centre, TRS chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao called for a three-day meeting of party office-bearers and workers in Hyderabad from August 24 to 26, obviously to gear up for agitation.
The TJAC has called for ‘Chalo Hyderabad march on September 30, which is supported by CPI and expects backing from both the TRS and the BJP.
While T-organisations are gearing up for agitation, the government is also going ahead with the arrangements for the mega meets.
