Staff rude at Railway hospital
A woman, who was trying to get her father admitted to the Secunderabad Railway Hospital, met with such rude and negligent attitude on the part of the hospital staff, that she was compelled to shift her father to a private hospital. V. Gayatri from Malkajgiri, an employee of Railtel Corporation of India Ltd, took her father T.M.V. Prasad Rao to the railway hospital at Lallaguda on March 20, since he wasn’t feeling well. The doctor on duty gave some medicines and sent him home. When Mr Rao didn’t seem to be getting any better, he was brought back to the hospital and admitted on March 23. He was found to be suffering from viral hepatitis.
At 9.30 am on March 24, an ultrasound scan was recommended. “My sister asked for a helper to shift our father from the ward to the scanning room, but the nurse and the staff rudely refused, saying ‘we can’t provide helpers. You do it yourself.’ When I met with the higher authorities, I met with rudeness and suggestions to shift to a private hospital. Since my father’s condition was serious, my sister promptly shifted him to a private hospital in Secunderabad,” said Ms Gayatri’s brother. The hospital MD, Dr B. Sudhakar, said he has issued a show cause notice to the nurse of the ward concerned for lapse in duty.
