SSC public exams begin today
SSC public exams will begin on Monday in 5,849 centres across the state. But the Board officials have admitted that there is a 25 per cent shortage of furniture in these centres, which means thousands of students will have to squat on the floor to write their exams! The exams will be held from 9.30 am to 12 noon till April 11. As many as 12,87,736 students from 19,689 schools have registered for the SSC exams this year. Of them 10,60,812 are regular candidates and 2,26,924 are private candidates.
About 300 flying squads have been formed to check malpractices. Computerised hall-tickets have been sent to the heads of institutions. Those students who did not receive hall-tickets can download them, but they should be attested by the concerned school heads. The hall-tickets can be downloaded from www.bseap.org. The SSC Board director, Mr B. Manmadha Reddy, has advised students to be present at the exam centres by 8.45 am to avoid last-minute difficulties in locating them.
“As the answer scripts are bar-coded, students are instructed not to write their roll numbers anywhere on the main answer scripts, additional answer scripts, map point sheet or graph sheet. Students should not write their name, signature, slogans or any other identification marks on the answer sheets, else their answer scripts will not be valued,” Mr Reddy warned.
The SSC board has also warned officials involved in exam duties of severe action if they resort to irregularities such as allowing mass copying. Such officials will have to face a prison term ranging from six months to three years besides a penalty of Rs 10,000 to Rs 1 lakh under Section 25 of the Prevention of Malpractices Act. The helpline numbers are: 23237343/23237344.
