Sops to BCs: Botsa takes on TD, YSRC
PCC president Botsa Satyanarayana on Tuesday proposed caste-wise allocation of Assembly tickets by arties, based on the population, so that no caste will be deprived of the opportunity to serve the people through the legislature. Speaking to newsmen at Gandhi Bhavan, Mr Satyanarayana targeted both the Telugu Desam and the YSR Congress for making a hue and cry over allotment of tickets to BCs in the coming elections. “Are you prepared to appoint a BC leader as your party president?” he challenged. “Without that, how can you promise so much to BCs?” the PCC chief said.
He accused both the Opposition parties of not being sincere about helping BCs, saying it was all part of their game plan to garner BC votes in the coming elections. Instead of allotting tickets to groups, Mr Satyanarayana said that it would be better for political parties to allot seats to every caste based on the population. Taking a verbal swipe at TD legislators, he stated that the principal opposition party has not learnt its lesson despite several setbacks. “How can the MLAs stage dharnas and rallies in the Secretariat devoid of decency and decorum, and how can they claim they will not vacate the CM’s office till their demands are met? Are they practical and implementable?” he said. Referring to reports about a possible change in the PCC presidentship, he said, “I do not have any such information. It is for Congress president Sonia Gandhi to decide.”
